Archer Park Apartments
Archer Park Apartments honors Romulus Cornelius Archer, the first Black registered architect in Washington, D.C. Our concept drew from his vernacular of centered, symmetrical grandeur - anchoring space with bold contrast and layered warmth. We partnered with a local photographer from Archer’s alma mater to document his buildings across the District, transforming those images into murals that root residents in his legacy. As they traverse the building, residents encounter not just design, but history - space that reflects a man who mirrored their community and built for it. The lobby’s multi-tiered light fixture became both punctuation and beacon, recalling Archer’s architectural forms
while guiding residents through a double-height space alive with black linear accents, wood texture, and story.
